The Fall 2013 Student Program Design Contest Begins Right Meow!

What’s becoming even more popular than brass|STUDENT PROGRAM t-shirts and cats? Cat t-shirts! That’s why we’ve decided to start the school year off with a feline-themed design contest for your high school students to show off their money smarts and their cat-titude.

Wisconsin Standards Update

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction announced yesterday the completion of updates to state CTE standards. Over the next couple of days, we will be updating Student Program lesson plans and Teaching brass standards charts to align with these new standards.

We appreciate your patience as we make this transition!

New Resources Available in August

The new issue of brass|MAGAZINE is hot off the press!

We will be uploading lesson plans, discussions plans, video trivia, vocabulary and more on or around August 1st.

The brass|STUDENT PROGRAM Financial Literacy Month contest was a huge success. We received nearly 100 entries. There were so many excellent poster designs and videos that it was a very tough decision for the brass team to come to.

Financial Literacy Month Contest - UPDATED with a photo of the prizes!

In a world where savings rates are plummeting and credit card debt is sky-rocketing, a group of high school students set out on an epic quest to tell the world about personal finance. The journey begins this April!

April is Financial Literacy Month, and the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM is celebrating Hollywood-style by hosting a contest for your students. The brass|STUDENT PROGRAM is inviting aspiring high school graphic designers and film-makers to create a poster or trailer for a movie about a personal finance topic of their choice.

We've compiled the questions most frequently asked by teachers in sponsored states about Student Program quarterly mailings. If you're not from a sponsored state, remember that you still receive lots of benefits - full use of the online resource center and a one-year complimentary subscription to brass.

'Working for yourself' is the theme for Spring 2013

You may notice something new about the next issue of brass (hot off the press next week) - a theme!

This quarter, brass tackles the topic of Entrepreneurship and explores it from many different angles.

Resources for this quarter will include:

  • Two new lesson plans covering an entrepreneurship case study and a marketing plan.
  • Article discussion questions
  • Issue vocabulary words

Winter Webinar Recording: Checking In – Checking Account Basics

Due to feedback we've received about school schedules, we have made the decision to change the date to a more convenient time. The 30 minute presentation will NOW BE HELD ON Wednesday, January 16th at 10 am (PST). To register your class, please email your name and school to studentprogram@brassmedia.com.

Can’t join us? No problem! We’ll send you a link to a recording that can be shown at any time after the 16th. If you prefer a recording, please indicate that in your email.

About this webinar:

This webinar will introduce teachers to new brass|STUDENT PROGRAM features for the 2011-2012 school year. The presentation will include important information about magazine distribution changes, new classroom tools and resources, and guest speakers.

Toward the end of the presentation, brass will unveil and provide a demonstration of the completely redesigned Student Program website.

The webinar will conclude with a question and answer session.
